Just Broke Up with boyfriend?? Am I handling this right?

I just broke up with my boyfriend. I broke up with him because he is often a jerk to me and puts me down. I told him it was over on the phone yesterday and have not attempted to communicate with him since we hung up. He has not tried to talk to me either. I know I made the right decision, but it really hurts not having him in my life. I also feel like a jerk for being the one to break up. I know I made the right decision but it hurts and I'm having a hard time dealing with the decision I made. How can I get through this?
