What should i think about my friend??\?

ok recently i told my friend who i like. she immediately told me he was a bad person and a jerk and that he was always hitting her. i asked my other friend if he was really like that and if he really hit her and she said no that he was a good and very sweet person. in p.e the boy i like and most of my friends are with me and the one that said the boy i like hit her is always looking at him. 2 girls told me that she liked him and that she told me he hit her only for me to think he was a jerk and not like him anymore . what should i believe or think??? please help me!!!!
